Teaching Kids to Question AI, Not Just Trust It
Bina Kids 1 min read
AI has a superpower that can also be a trap: it always sounds sure of itself. To a child, a confident answer feels like a true answer. Part of raising kids in the age of AI is teaching them the two aren't the same.
Confidence is not correctness
The first lesson is freeing: AI can be wrong. Once children know this, they stop treating the screen as an oracle and start treating it as a tool.
Three questions to teach
- How do you know that? Is there a source, or just a guess?
- Does this make sense? Compare with what they already know.
- Who could I ask? A parent, teacher, or book to double-check.
A child who questions a confident answer has already learned more than the answer itself.
